Geotechnical Engineering Services
GN Northern’s geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists have completed comprehensive soil and groundwater investigations for projects ranging from small-scale residential site studies to major industrial facility design, providing innovative and dependable recommendations to safely and efficiently complete design and construction.
Working as a primary consultant or as part of a design team, GN Northern engineers provide services based on the unique needs of each project. By balancing the client’s plan with the site conditions and local requirements, we are able to provide guidance and recommendations throughout the design and construction process and help our clients achieve their project goals.
Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection Services
GN Northern’s materials testing and inspection division serves projects throughout the northwest, providing project assistance from the initial site preparation through erection and until the final stages of site development. We provide expertise in testing and inspection of soil, concrete, masonry, steel, and asphalt from our Kennewick, Yakima, Spokane Valley, and Hood River and Hermiston offices. We also maintain fully equipped mobile laboratory testing trailers for servicing extended projects at distant sites.
Our engineering technicians and special inspectors are trained on common testing standards, including procedures published by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), and the Washington and Oregon Departments of Transportation (WSDOT). They are also familiar with requirements of the International Building Code (IBC) and local building code requirements. Our field technicians average 12 years of experience in testing and inspection, and are certified by the American Concrete Institute (ACI), International Code Council (ICC), and National Institute of Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
Environmental Consulting Services
GN Northern’s environmental scientists have provided consulting services for numerous projects, by identifying, mitigating, and monitoring hazards associated with properties throughout the Pacific Northwest, and Wyoming.
Our staff members have provided services for a variety of clients including private landowners, commercial and industrial companies, government agencies, banks, realtors, and property managers. The common goal for each project: to identify appropriate actions and address concerns in a cost-effective and efficient manner while ensuring compliance with legal standards and protecting our clients’ needs.
Pavement Engineering Services
GN Northern provides pavement engineering services and has several years of demonstrated experience with many satisfied clients. GN Northern specializes in solving complex pavement engineering problems and offers high standards of quality pavement engineering and field testing services. We have an outstanding record for on-time and high-quality work.
As part of the haul roads pavement evaluation study, a construction traffic analysis is performed to determine the frequency of the different truck loads based on the estimated operational truck traffic. This includes estimated frequency and weight of each type of truck on each section of the haul routes. This information is then used to analyze the structural integrity of the haul routes based on the maximum truck frequency and weights.
