GN Northern, Inc. is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting and construction material testing firm based in Yakima, Washington, with branch offices in Kennewick, Washington, Hermiston and Hood River, Oregon. GN Northern's staff includes geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, environmental scientists, hydro-geologists, engineering geologists, geologists, engineering technicians, and special inspectors dedicated to providing high quality geotechnical and foundation engineering, civil engineering, environmental consulting, air-quality modeling/monitoring, construction materials testing and ICBO/WABO special inspection services for today's complex regulatory environment.

Our senior engineering staff has experience ranging from 10 to 22 years and our technicians and inspectors have an average of 10 years of construction materials testing and inspection experience. Our staff provides geotechnical and construction materials services throughout eastern, western and central Washington and Oregon for projects ranging in construction value from $100,000 to over $600 million. Similarly our environmental staff has worked on assessment projects ranging from $1,000 to $200,000.

GN Northern's geotechnical engineers perform comprehensive investigations that provide reasonable dependable design and construction recommendations. A strong project management concept is followed from start to finish on every project. Construction projects use GN Northern's geotechnical expertise in program development, site reconnaissance, field exploration, field and laboratory testing, geotechnical evaluation, construction quality control and testing.

GN Northern's geotechnical engineering assignments range from small residential site investigations to Commercial Facilities (construction or additions to high and low-rise building structures), Public Usage Structures (wastewater treatment plants, water storage tanks, electrical substations, communication towers), Industrial Facilities (heavily loaded or dynamically loaded foundations), Utilities (high pressure gas pipelines, sewer and drainage structures, transmission poles, power generating plants, municipal facilities), and Transportation facilities (bridges, roadways, parking areas, airport runways).

The firm also provides civil engineering service for residential and commercial development projects. Our engineers utilize codes established various cities and counties. Civil engineering services include selection of an adequate drainage system, development of site grading and drainage plans, roadway and street design, and utilities connection design. Civil engineering services are performed in conjunction with the architect's site plan. Our engineers provide assistance during rezoning and permitting phases.

In addition, our environmental engineering expertise has been playing an increasing role in many projects. GN Northern provides underground storage tank site assessment services, environmental site assessments for real-estate transactions, consultation for hazardous waste compliance issues, site renovation and remedial design, and landfill monitoring and design. Additionally, our staff works extensively on groundwater and hydrogeologic projects throughout eastern, western and central Washington and eastern Oregon.

Environmental clients include individual property owners, public agencies and corporations. Our goal is similar, regardless of the client: provide an adequate assessment or action for a site, while controlling the project cost and completing the project in a timely manner.

Our services include air quality modeling, atmospheric monitoring, measurement of indoor pollution and negotiating air quality permits. Our air quality scientists provide control assistance for fugitive dust and odors. We assist with preparation of air quality permits and reports, prepare air quality reports for environmental impact statements and conduct human exposure risk assessments.

GN Northern's modern and state-of-the-art material testing laboratory facilities and equipment allow testing of samples we collect in the field. Registered Professional Engineers evaluate the results of field investigations and laboratory testing to provide accurate and cost-effective solutions to our client's needs.

GN Northern's Laboratory has a quality control program in place to meet the specifications of ASTM standards. In the implementation of this program, our construction materials testing equipment is calibrated to traceable standards. GN Northern is a WABO (Washington Association of Building Officials) Registered Special inspection agency. Our testing laboratories meet the requirements of ASTM E329 "Standard practice for Use in the Evaluation of Testing and Inspection Agencies as Used in Construction". Our laboratories are also Corps of Engineers inspected and approved.

Due to our geographic locations, price structure and satisfactory past performance on similar projects we are confident that we will provide timely, cost-effective and high quality geotechnical engineering services for your projects. We are dedicated to providing a personal relationship with our clients in order to fulfill their needs in a timely manner and within budget.
